So, today is Groundhog Day. I hope you are having a great day on a Marmot Researcher such as myself, the holiest of days. Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see his shadow, so prepare for an early spring. That is how powerful the marmot is, they can predict the weather 50% of the time. What other animal can do that?
I spent my Groundhog Day shoveling and snowthrowing snow as I have just witnessed the largest amount of snow to fall from the sky at one time. It was crazy. It took two hours to clear my driveway, and that is with a snowthrower.
So, if you are from a warmer state, enjoy your weather, because it could be a lot worse.
Happy Groundhog Day everyone!

Yesterday, before the storm hit, I went to the store to stock up, just in case we were snowed in for a while. While shopping, I saw a woman and her two kids. She was about 6 foot 5 (rough estimate, but clearly taller than me by several inches). Now, I have a running theory: Women rarely will be with a man shorter than them. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average male height is 5 feet 9.2 inches. The average female height is 5 feet 3.8 inches. This means that a woman who is over 6 feet is by random chance going to find more men shorter than her than taller, yet I rarely see a woman with a man shorter than her, regardless of her height.
So, when I saw this woman in the store, I had no choice to collect data on my hypothesis. I asked her, is your husband (first I confirmed that se was married) taller than you? She told me that she and her husband were the same height. I asked if she actively pursued a man taller than her. She said they probably both preferred taller people similar to their own height. What does this mean? Simple, if you are a man and you are below 5 feet 9 or worse, below 5 feet 3, you are screwed. It’s not that short people got no reason, but short men got no date. I’m just sayin …
Reading this post, I can’t help but wonder if this lady hates it when random people come up to her and start a conversation. I’ve heard that some people loathe those very kind of experiences.
I don’t have a problem with a short man, just the insecurity baggage that comes along with it.
